celebrate we will
20 years of magic on The Land
While there has been no shortage of writing inspirations these past weeks of summer’s finale, i elected to remain present + in the flow of Life. Small moments layered with big ones, adventures and awarenesses unfurling on the external and internal planes, feeling abundance in all its many forms swim around me.
Even (especially?) when the Muchness of the world can seem weighty, i am in the practice of anchoring further into not only gratitude, but celebration. Autumn seems to emphasize the urgency to carpe the diem, and revel in the fleeting beauty we are graced with. Perhaps Dave Matthews’ Two Step played its role, embedding it into me well-enough during college dayz of singing + dancing ~
“Celebrate we will,
cause life is short but sweet for certain.”
Twenty years ago this season, nine years prior to my entrance in his life, Anthony made the decision to purchase land. At thirty-three years young, it was a nod to his desire for a space to express himself creatively, a place to climb epic rock faces, as well as, yes, a worthy financial investment. Forty acres of Colorado high-desert landscape on a limestone plateau in the Front Range of the Rockies has been a vibrant backdrop of Anthony’s life for the last two decades, and mine and Elijah’s for almost eleven years now.
We decided to host a fall camping weekend this October as a way to celebrate the gifts of what this land has given us and so many others over the years. i want to honor this moment in time by sharing some stories + imagery with you ~ how we have played in and with the magic that lives there, as well as plant some seeds for future visioning.
Even as we look at each other today, planning for time out there in these coming weeks + hosting a gathering, we are constantly faced with the fine balance of focused movement, productivity + steps-towards-goals, alongside the call to restore, play, relax, explore. We always have a handful of projects in some stage of the process, continuously a need or inspiration to improve systems or structures. Always ideas for The More (Rotating Bed in the Field is still in the Top 10…perhaps 2026 is the year..?).
And -
It is a concerted practice for us to know when it’s time to not only shift our “doing” into play-mode, but give ourselves the gift of slowness, stillness, and solitude. Of finding enoughness in the simplicity of the fire’s heat, the vastness of the night skies, the clarity in the birdsong, the companionship of the sun and wind.
So over the next week or two, i’ll be framing my offerings this way - crafting (at least) two pieces, one that speaks to the yang-esque lens of The Land ~ the creating, the activity, the larger gatherings, and another that attempts to capture the more nuanced, ethereal gifts of this portal-space from a yin perspective.
As i wrote in my first piece about The Land last year, we have both deeply felt - always and ever-increasingly-so - that this land is to be shared.

That whomever finds themselves there will receive what they need, whatever that may be for them. It might be the thrill of jumping on a 4-wheeler and cruising the trails, bravely scaling world-class rock walls, or embarking on Anthony’s 18-hole disc golf course-adventure.
Or it could be laying on the earth, dancing by the fire in the field, marveling at the poetry of every sunrise and sunset that plays upon the mountains near + far. It could be a sense of cozy community that is someone’s medicine; it could be the lack of humans that answers the call of need.
It might be all of it.
We know the juice found out there, and we are always so honored to offer the invitation for others to taste it for themselves.
So come along for some stories, enjoy some pictures and video captures as we celebrate the simplicity + grandeur of our very special second homespace.

I want to hear more
about the ceremonial tent!!
Love the photo gallery and the rotating bed in the field! Congratulations on 20 years of shepherding this divine plot of land. May this October's celebration open new possibilities for all who attend! I will be there in spirit.
